This year's US Fulbrighters spent three days immersed in Irish language and culture in a varied programme of events and excursions which included a trip to Brú na Boinne, an historic walking tour of Dublin and ceilí dancing in Ráth Chairn.
The orientation began in the Long Room Hub, Trinity College where they were given insights into Ireland's Historical Traditions, heard about the current context of Ireland's Higher Education System and were also given a whirlwind breakdown of current affairs.
The Fulbrighters were fortunate to see some sun during their trip to Newgrange and arrived at NUI Maynooth ready to tackle some immersive sessions on the Irish language over the next two days. During dinner in Renehan Hall, South Campus, NUI Maynooth, Seamus Mac Giolla Chomhaill, from the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht gave an overview of the Irish language today.
Finishing the Orientation Programme, the Fulbrighters attended A Commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of September 11th, hosted by the US Embassy in the RDS in Ballsbridge.
